Suckers’ “Turn On The Sunshine” is the sort of mild-euphoric/shambolic-pop nugget that the band nails at will, a standout from the Candy Salad LP released this spring. Its video is one for the memory banks as well, honoring the subtle and bright strains of psilocybin streaming through its heart with a handsomely hallucinating human who’s finding joy personified (and choreographed) in his bacon, OJ, and Suckers Brand Cereal™. The part of the handsome hallucinator is played by Ashok “Dapwell” Kondabolu of popular art’s very own, Das Racist; the video is directed by Julia Simpson, and edited by Jordan Fish, whose own directorial credits include DR’s “Rainbow In The Dark” and that endlessly dope choose-your-own-adventure Chairlift video. This one makes the most of a low budget and high creative pedigree. Watch:
