Earlier this year, Adam Bainbridge, aka Kindness, completely remade Blood Orange’s “Uncle ACE” with house legend Robert Owens. Now he’s taken on the spacious, slow-burning “Monument” by Röyksopp & Robyn, from their recent mini-album Do It Again, this time completely remaking it as “A Monument To Everything.” It’s such a drastic reformation that the title change is totally warranted. Bainbridge strips down the song to an even sparser arrangement than before, and adds a vocal verse from Busiswa, a South African singer and poet who absolutely dominates the track. This is remixing at its most impressive and ambitious. Listen.
