Greys – “The Noise Of Carpet” (Stereolab Cover)

Earlier this summer, the ferocious Toronto noise band Greys released their debut album, If Anything. They’re about to head out on a UK/European in support of the reunited Death From Above 1979, and to help get the word out, they’ve released a cover of Stereolab’s 1996 single “The Noise Of Carpet,” from their classic LP Emperor Tomato Ketchup. If you know both Greys (insanely fast, heavy, loud, abrasive) and Stereolab (ultra mellow, textured, spacious, groovy), you know this is not an intuitive pairing. But goddamn if they don’t make it work. Listen.
