Dean Wareham’s Post-Galaxie 500 experimental dream pop group Luna already announced their reunion and a slew of North American tour dates. The band toured Spain in April, but prior to a recent Northside Festival listing and a one-off L.A. show, all the announced dates in North America were for late fall. But this quietly posted Eventbrite listing indicates that they’ll be kicking off their tour with a show in Brooklyn. It will be their first performance in New York since they closed out at Bowery Ballroom in 2005. They’ll play at the festival on Thursday, 6/11 from 5:30PM to 8:30PM and the show is free with RSVP or for anyone who has purchased the festival badge. The show will be held at the largest and most accessible stage in McCarren Park, which is located at approximately Bedford Avenue and North 12th Street.
The band also posted about the free show on their Facebook, as did Britta Phillips, who further noted that the show will be on her birthday:
That’s a great birthday present.
