“Double Talk” was the first single off Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s lush self-titled new album. Today he’s shared a simple, pastel-hued video to accompany it. Between shots of slow-sliding white goo — apparently it’s magma — Kalevi sings with his eyes averted from the camera, like an ex-pat longing for home. The Finnish musician has, in fact, defected to Berlin in order to pursue the arts, and this song is the finest result of his move. It’s also the saddest; the one most filled with a wistful yearning for a language that connects instead of confounds. Watch the video, which was made by Blank Blank Film and Sirio Magnabosco, below.
