Today Swedish trio Lust for Youth announced Compassion, their latest album for Sacred Bones. Lead single “Stardom” wades into waters relatively unknown by the band, placing a stronger emphasis on the ethereal and atmospheric elements found throughout their discography. While the beat remains relatively up-tempo, the band opted to do away with drum-driven 80’s grooves to create a song comprising mostly synthesized bass lines and blinking, glitch-y rhythmic accompaniments, letting their usual compressed energy loosen up and float into the ether. It’s like taking the lid off of a jar of fireflies, and you can hear it below.
Compassion is out 3/18 on Sacred Bones. Pre-order it at iTunes and get “Stardom” instantly.
