of Montreal – “It’s Different For Girls”

Long-running theatrical psych-pop collective of Montreal released their last album Aureate Gloom last year, and they’ve just unveiled plans to drop a new one this summer. The group’s new LP is called Innocence Reaches, and Pitchfork reports that that the LP was, according to frontman Kevin Barnes, inspired by recent music from people like Jack Ü, Chairlift, and Arca. First single “it’s different for girls,” which Zane Lowe debuted on Beats 1 Radio today, is a slick, skittery new wave song with lyrics about the ways in which women grow up objectified. Below, listen to the song and check out the album’s tracklist.

“let’s relate”
“it’s different for girls”
“gratuitous abysses”
“my fair lady”
“les chants de maldoror”
“a sport and a pastime”
“ambassador bridge”
“def pacts”
“chaos arpeggiating”
“nursing slopes”
“trashed exes”
“chap pilot”

Innocence Reaches is out 8/12 on Polyvinyl.
