Sad13 – “Hype”

Sadie Dupuis is releasing her debut solo album, Slugger, under the name Sad13 in a few weeks. We’ve already heard a few tracks from it — “Get A Yes,” “Less Than 2,” and “Devil In U” — and today she’s shared another one in the form of “Hype.” NPR says it was originally intended as a Speedy Ortiz song but because of “one lyric that would offend their mothers” (presumably the chorus: “They still wanna lick my asshole/ They still wanna buy what I’m selling them”), Dupuis kept it for herself. That also gave her the freedom to add some poppier elements to the track that would maybe sound out of place on a Speedy song, and you can listen to the result below.

Slugger is out 11/11 via Carpark. Pre-order it here.
