Hus Kingpin is a Long Island rapper who currently lives in California and who issues baroque head-smack threats over dusty, warped, often-beautiful sample-heavy beats. If you’re a fan of the recent wave of rappers who take ’90s New York boom-bap and turn it into something woozy and impressionistic — Roc Marciano, Ka, Westside Gunn, Conway — then this guy should be on your radar. And if you’re not a fan of that wave, you should become one, because it’s great.
