First Hate are a duo from Copenhagen who make dark, dancey synthpop. They’ve toured with fellow Danes like Trentemøller and Iceage, and they’re getting to ready to follow up their first two EPs next month with a debut full-length called A Prayer For The Unemployed. Lead single “The One” is a hell of an introduction, a new wave banger that makes great use of Anton Falck’s deep, romantic voice. There are spoken word passages and harmonica breaks that give me serious The The vibes, and it all builds to a gloriously euphoric climax. The video, directed by Falck, is simple but striking, showing the duo and some friends at a dimly lit dance party. Watch and listen below.
