Pantheon Awards

I kept wondering why everyone was talking about the Pantheon Awards, as I’d never heard of ‘em. Turns out Pantheon Is The New Shortlist, which recognizes under-the-radar albums (less than 500k copies sold domestically between 7/1/04 and 10/30/05).

Pantheon Awards: Top Ten Finalists

  • Animal Collective Feels (Fatcat)
  • Antony and the Johnsons I Am A Bird Now (Secretly Canadian)
  • Arcade Fire Funeral (Merge)
  • Bloc Party Silent Alarm (Vice)
  • Death Cab For Cutie’s Plans (Atlantic)
  • Decemberists Picaresque (Kill Rock Stars)
  • Fiona Apple Extraordinary Machine (Epic)
  • Kings Of Leon Aha Shake Heartbreak (RCA)
  • M.I.A. Arular (XL/Beggars Banquet)
  • Sufjan Stevens Illinois (Asthmatic Kitty)

  • The finalists were voted on by a panel of musicians, journalists, and O.C. cast and crew. Collectively, they have the same taste in music as you.

Pitchfork recommends hitting to see which panelists nominated which records (“who knew ?uestlove dug Bright Eyes and Suzanne Vega is a Jamiroquai fan?!”).

Re: image above, Presumably I visited the site while they were making a page code update, but it’s amusing to think they didn’t bother to put Actor On The O.C.‘s name.
