Green Day are taking their 2004 rock opera to the stage with help from Michael Mayer, the Tony-winning director of Spring Awakening. American Idiot opens 9/4 at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre and tickets are on sale now. Berkeley Rep also have a theatrical production of Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend opening next year.
