New M.I.A. – “Paper Planes (Remix For The Children By Adrock)”

Maya’s controversial Kala track already got the Beastie stamp of approval back when the boys turned up on the video for a quick cameo, but Adrock’s showing the BK transplant more love on his lonesome, here, as one of five contributors to M.I.A.’s digital-only Paper Planes (Homeland Security Remixes) EP. But really, he’s doing it for the kids. Which is why, we imagine, he made sure to keep the gunshots and cash register percussion in there. (For censored versions, see Les Moonves.) Adam Horovitz goes with a dark and sparse dubstep style here, pianos on the upbeat, double-time at 2:40, a loopy bass tone on the way out. Clearly, for the kids.
