New Kaki King Video – “Pull Me Out Alive”

Like the Polyphonic Spree before her, STD awareness crusader/six-string master Kaki King strings together thousands of still photographs to form a beautiful music video. (In the Spree’s case it was 70,000 while Kaki’s working with around 5K, but then DeLaughter’s act has like 23 times more members.) The choppy effect, combined with colorful light ribbons (“‘light animators’ flashing LEDs and flashlights on and off over a long (8 second) shot exposure,” photo geeks) works well with “Pull Me Out Alive”‘s dreamy, surging pop fare. More for the photo tech nerds: They used a Nikon D30, which makes it official: We are definitely not getting the most out of our D50. Keep your lens peeled for a Quin sister cameo.

Kaki and the Quins Velour. Catch her all over Austin this week (especially at this little shindig). Or see her thereafter:
