I'm a huge fan of Jay, but that's pretty lame. I don't think anyone is going to change their opinion about the quality of certain bands, or a whole borough, based on what bands Jay likes or dislikes. So who was that intended for? It just comes off as immature. So you don't like certain bands, does that mean the rest of us aren't allowed to? He also had a blog post a while back tearing down Cut Copy which is pretty ridiculous.
This reminds me of one of one of my cousins who only listens to metal and laughs at everything in my collection. It doesn't matter if it's New Order, Guided By Voices, The Fall, Company Flow, Tom Waits or even Jay Reatard; if it's not metal, it's "pussy shit".
Whatever. I'm sure Mr. Reatard shares a lot more fans with Pains and the rest of the Brooklyn bands than he realizes. Maybe one day he'll broaden his horizons a bit.
I loved Wes back when he was shouting anthems with American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost, but this is just sort of okay.
I think I'll go dig out my copy of "We're Down Til We're Underground' and relive my not-so-distant youth.
In my day being a "hipster" meant loving Wilco, reading Pynchon and dressing like your college professor on Casual Day. (I got the label thrown at me quite a bit)
These guys, with their Hot Topic sunglasses and WarpedTour-radio-rock, are really just Mall-punks.
Things have been screwy all day, some of my comments won't appear in the posts even though they show up as archived on my profile and avatars haven't been loading at times.
Also, hitting "submit" has apparently logged me out twice, giving me an error screen stating that I need to be logged in to comment. I thought it was my browser at first but it's working fine elsewhere.
I smell tomfoolery......and shenanigans.
I disagree.
When P4k first mentioned Wavves a few months back the hype train was already chugging along, they just added a shitload of fuel to the fire. And when they wrote about the Barcelona show they were merely doing their job. It's not like they put up a long rant against the kid, denouncing his name and drawing penises on his face. They merely relayed what happened with a little opinion thrown in about the cause of it.
Should they not have mentioned it at all?
I tried leaving a nice long, goodbye comment where I poured my little e-heart out for all to see and instead was given an error screen upon hitting "submit".
Oh well.
G'bye Lindsay.
I don't know what the best album is, but the album I've been listening to the most in the last few weeks is The Juan Maclean's "The Future Will Come".
Also, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas' "II" is pretty damn great.
Whatever. I'll go back in my cave now.
Maybe.
OR, this experience will make him an emotional Hercules with the ability to laugh in the face of anything life throws at him. "Do your worst vile fiend, as a child I looked deep into the eyes of pure evil and walked away unscathed!"
But, nah, he'll probably be brain-screwed. Poor little guy.
Bow Wow Wow was formed when Malcolm McLaren convinced the guitarist, bassist and drummer from Adam & The Ants to form a new group. When they left, they took their fancy, new Burundi-influenced beats with them.
Sweetness. HEALTH have the potential to be one of the most interesting bands around. I loved the debut and the remix album, but DIE SLOW is something else entirely.
