I'm a huge fan of Jay, but that's pretty lame. I don't think anyone is going to change their opinion about the quality of certain bands, or a whole borough, based on what bands Jay likes or dislikes. So who was that intended for? It just comes off as immature. So you don't like certain bands, does that mean the rest of us aren't allowed to? He also had a blog post a while back tearing down Cut Copy which is pretty ridiculous. This reminds me of one of one of my cousins who only listens to metal and laughs at everything in my collection. It doesn't matter if it's New Order, Guided By Voices, The Fall, Company Flow, Tom Waits or even Jay Reatard; if it's not metal, it's "pussy shit". Whatever. I'm sure Mr. Reatard shares a lot more fans with Pains and the rest of the Brooklyn bands than he realizes. Maybe one day he'll broaden his horizons a bit.
Just when I thought I couldn't possibly love Angel more, she goes and wears a Spacemen 3 shirt. You're killing me woman.
Nice. I've been looking for "Today" on vinyl for quite some time now.
I loved Wes back when he was shouting anthems with American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost, but this is just sort of okay. I think I'll go dig out my copy of "We're Down Til We're Underground' and relive my not-so-distant youth.
In my day being a "hipster" meant loving Wilco, reading Pynchon and dressing like your college professor on Casual Day. (I got the label thrown at me quite a bit) These guys, with their Hot Topic sunglasses and WarpedTour-radio-rock, are really just Mall-punks.
Things have been screwy all day, some of my comments won't appear in the posts even though they show up as archived on my profile and avatars haven't been loading at times. Also, hitting "submit" has apparently logged me out twice, giving me an error screen stating that I need to be logged in to comment. I thought it was my browser at first but it's working fine elsewhere. I smell tomfoolery......and shenanigans.
As much as I love all three of those girls, those pants are not doing them any favors.
I actually loved Art School Confidential. :(
Hmmm....looks like some comments disappeared. It shows a comment I posted on my profile but it's missing here.
I disagree. When P4k first mentioned Wavves a few months back the hype train was already chugging along, they just added a shitload of fuel to the fire. And when they wrote about the Barcelona show they were merely doing their job. It's not like they put up a long rant against the kid, denouncing his name and drawing penises on his face. They merely relayed what happened with a little opinion thrown in about the cause of it. Should they not have mentioned it at all?
She will be mine. Oh yes, she will be mine.
In light of what happened later, this video's almost poignant. At least he had some fun before the tide turned.
I tried leaving a nice long, goodbye comment where I poured my little e-heart out for all to see and instead was given an error screen upon hitting "submit". Oh well. G'bye Lindsay.
I heard you the first time. When you said it first.
If the DFA remixed "Death Sentence" it would be a hit. "You can fuckin' die." Now that's a chorus.
That setlist puts just about every other band around to shame.
It's all part of his stage persona. He's honestly nothing like that when he's out of character. Proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16l8XzJUY_o
Royksopp's "Junior" was a definite grower for me.
I don't know what the best album is, but the album I've been listening to the most in the last few weeks is The Juan Maclean's "The Future Will Come". Also, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas' "II" is pretty damn great. Whatever. I'll go back in my cave now.
Agreed. I was listening to Dear Science on the drive home from work a few days ago and was loving every second of it.
Your avatar is adorable.
Maybe. OR, this experience will make him an emotional Hercules with the ability to laugh in the face of anything life throws at him. "Do your worst vile fiend, as a child I looked deep into the eyes of pure evil and walked away unscathed!" But, nah, he'll probably be brain-screwed. Poor little guy.
First she dates Andy Samberg and now she's in a MGMT video? Poor Joanna. The universe hates her.
"King of the Rodeo" had a cool video. Of course, that was back when they were just "okay" and not "total shit".
You should have kept watching, Will Forte's song was amazing.
Agreed. Fallon's studio actually made the Cold War Kids sound good. Insanity.
Meh. I still loved the album.
Mama Rossen, FTW!
His trophy case is already full of Adorable Awards.
"Oh my god, I'm droppin' shit like a pigeon."
Bow Wow Wow was formed when Malcolm McLaren convinced the guitarist, bassist and drummer from Adam & The Ants to form a new group. When they left, they took their fancy, new Burundi-influenced beats with them.
Sweetness. HEALTH have the potential to be one of the most interesting bands around. I loved the debut and the remix album, but DIE SLOW is something else entirely.
Nice to see people are still getting use out of those old Adam & The Ants beats. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT27A6Sa10k
"Satisfy me! My Duster!" My car never makes me break out in song. :(
"People said his brain was infected by devils...."
