Sadly, this isn't about the Beatles music but about how to keep making money off of their music.
The only positive thing I take away from all this is the fact that 50 years from now some kid will discover their music through a format only available to them.... digitally.
I'd hate to be the person responsible for a former president's worst moment of his presidency. That's gonna hang over Kanye for many, many years to come and it doesn't surprise me Kanye almost broke down. But if you ask me, it was very douchey of Bush to say it in the first place but as things go, even that comment will come back and bite him on the ass.
But wait a sec...
Didn't Matt bring up the whole Kanye incident while interviewing Bush in the first place? Ok... nevermind the real douche here is Matt Lauer, typical TV talking-head digging his way to higher ratings.
I have to give it to Kanye, the man is talented but the comment he just made about Coldplay being more important than the Beatles and Chris Martin being equally as important as Joh Lennon was out of left field. Looking forward to this album nonetheless, there's always interesting rhymes to be heard from this guy.
Bush claims that Kanye calling him a racist was the lowest point of his presidency?? WTF! Are you serious? Dude! You ignored getting help to all those thousands of people left stranded without a home and with nothing to eat for three days!! TREEE DAYS! WTF is wrong with you!!? You were supposed to be the first person down there the day after the disaster! Handing out plates of food and hugging the people who lost their loved ones. And someone calling you out on live television out of frustration was the lowest point of your presidency? WE WERE ALL FRUSTRATED. What did you expect? But what about 911? where 3K+ civilians died on that single day... How could that not be the lowest point of your presidency?? It certainly was to the rest of us. The whole thing was not about Kanye, it was about how even after decades since the civil rights movements some things don't seem to change.
"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death."
-Martin Luther King, Jr., 1967.
I like the whole Americana sound going on in this song, the harmonica and Peter Buck playing a 12-string on it is a nice touch. Not the biggest Decemberists fan but I'm curious to hear the rest of this REM-influenced album.
"...about the time Ray threw Dave a party for his 50th birthday (since Ray has most of the songwriting credits and therefore most of the money), only to interrupt, give a speech honoring himself, then stamp all over Dave’s cake with his foot."
Not even Liam could top that.
Damon isn't in it for the money. Don't you think he's been offered huge amounts for a new Blur album? Gorillaz is good but Blur was amazing. Anyway... What's Glee ?
I'm a fan of Cure's darker-side[Pornography, Faith, Disintegration] but this definitely sounds interesting. Robert Smith should do something with The Knife next!

Father To A Sister Of Thought is not the best song of the 90s but it certainly is Pavement's greatest achievement in song-writing. http://bit.ly/dBouMC
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SMALL SPACE IN THE WORLD WIDE WEB IS A BIG FAIL. THE KINGS OF LEON FAIL BECAUSE THEY MADE ANOTHER "SAFE FOR THE KIDS" SONG THAT WILL HOPEFULLY APPEAL TO TWEENS EVERYWHERE. THEY ALSO FAIL FOR TAKING THE DECISION TO SHOOT A MUSIC VIDEO THAT WOULD SPARK A DEBATE REGARDING RACISM. THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE POSTED AND REPLIED HERE REGARDING WHETHER THIS VIDEO IS RACIST OR NOT FAIL THE BIGGEST. HECK EVEN THE PERSON WHO WROTE THIS (JESSICA) TO THE PERSON WHO LET THIS BE WRITTEN (SCOTT) FAIL. BUT I ALSO FAIL TOO FOR EVEN TAKING THE TIME TO READ AND TAKING THE DECISION TO REPLY BY USING CAPITAL LETTERS AND THEREFORE "BEING LOUD". AND MOST OF ALL YOU FAIL FOR WASTING YOUR TIME READING THIS.
TOGETHER WE FAIL!
:P
Hey Sufjan, we love you're back with new music and all but don't try to do what Radiohead did a decade ago. Anyway, it could be worse... at least you're not writing a rap album right?
Although I agree with you on most points, you still have to give it to RS... they continue to write some incredible in-depth articles. My problem's not with Katy Perry on the cover or them covering some indie artist on year-end lists... my MAIN problem has and always has been with their biased album reviews they are known for. As Pink Floyd once put it, "The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think, Oh by the way, which one's Pink?...It's a helluva start, it could be made into a monster if we all pull together as a team." 'Nuff said.
I used this address..
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest
Washington, DC 20500
And the running guy was pulled-over at gun-point by secret service dudes.
:-o
This band could have been the biggest band to come out of the UK... seriously, if Pete wasn't such a pain in the ass and Carl had the patience... They would be bigger than Coldplay today. "Tell The King" is among my favorite songs of all-time.
01. Strawberry Fields Forever
02. Dig A Pony
03. Helter Skelter
04. Because
05. Happiness Is A Warm Gun
06. A Day In The Life
07. Don't Let Me Down
08. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
09. Tomorrow Never Knows
10. Day Tripper
Couldn't help myself.. love Beatles' music.
