Agreed. Still believe the Thin White Duke has another few in him to blow us away. ;-)
Karen O's operatic album anyone? Ha ha. Ha.
Wow. There's actually someone who dislikes music from these artists.
Add to that list: Beck, Devendra Banhart and Super Furry Animals.
Their remix work over the last year or so (Florence + the Machine, Cold War Kids, Moby, etc) indicated an almost blind eye as to who they were aligning themselves with. In the words of Frank Zappa, "We're in it for the money". This has also been one of their laziest videos.
Utter hypocrite. He's got his own value system in saying Ritchie Blackmore's a better guitarist. Billy needs a mirror. I'm in Sharon Osbourne's camp on this.
I before E except after C, people! Wayne/Lips have always used fake blood as prop as well as female nudity ala 70's sexploitative psychedelia. How relevant this is is another question. Fact is, Erykah and her sis DID do the video shoot. How they expect the shoot to turn out any different is unfathomable. It has all been a PR stunt and the casualty remains the music.
Almost made my list - but 2cds worth... Would've been stronger pared to one.
Welcome back! Both overdue for new albums ;-)
Missed out Perfume Genius - Put Your Back N 2 It @ #5m between Lips & Jack. Bye Lana!

Supposed to have been last year...
Indeed. One of lucky 200 (If that's really all that's pressed) to receive that Henrietta single!
Oops. Your ignorance is showing.
Love Yeasayer (Seen them live twice), but this track sees them move towards more R&B rather than their earlier earthier Folktronic.
Not necessarily. Love could transcend gender attraction.
How gauche - One"s sexuality should be always a private matter, even for a public figure. Never ever did I feel artists owed me anything. In fact, the reverse is true; I've often felt indebted to them for the joy they"ve brought into my life. I wish Laura and her wife well.
Never knew wisdom stunk.
RIP, Levon. Music from Big Pink and The Band were landmark albums to me and instrumental to starting my love for Appalachian music.
One of my all-time favourites. I believe Jim O’Rourke's sonic contribution to shaping this album is criminally underrated. Would certainly have been a pale shadow without his input. I'm all for incorporating him as a permanent member of the band. Present day studio version of Wilco is almost too "nice" (Bar 'Art of Almost') and almost do not Rock enough for me. But live, they still knock my cotton socks off.
Beck & Devendra Banhart - Both overdue for a new LP...
Love them both but this track doesn't sound fully formed...
Rather than commenting on race, class, gender, sexuality and violence, it's just a gritty story told... Would have had the same impact if the subject was white, straight and female. http://auralfood.blogspot.com.au/
They haven't been a rock band for a while now. Their personal tastes veer more towards beats, bleeps and IDM.
Dang! US entrants only? How about going international, Stereogum?
Don't care if you don't - Just don't begrudge that others do.
Never thought I'd see the day I'd be defending Whitney. Okay, granted she was from a well-to-do & connected family, but that alone does not guarantee success. Remember LaToya? Fact is, she had an amazing voice in her heyday and played a big part in many peoples lives. Her life choice decisions (albeit tragic) were hers. You probably remember Hendrix as someone who had asphyxiated in his own vomit than the guitar legend he was. Stop being so quick to judge.
Umm... Glad Bon Iver won, but they are not a New Artist; likewise, nominees Mumford & Son's sole album came out in 2009 whilst Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was released 2010. Isn't there any cut-off??
Either you like it or you don't - Trying to like some song because you liked an artist in the past is being sentimental
oops - your ignorance is showing...
Could it be that Jack's had his day? He had a good run in The White Stripes; mixed success with Dead Weather / The Raconteurs; been semi -successful as a producer for Wanda Jackson and baffling work with TV jock Stephen Colbert and covered Mozart's “Leck Mich Im Arsch” (Lick My Arse) with Insane Clown Posse!?!?... Let's hope he makes a return to form. If anything, he needs to sound less like Jack White (Boxing himself in) and experiment a little more - With better chosen sparring partners, of course... http://auralfood.blogspot.com.au/
Violence is so cool, not. Dumbass.
Strangely I do hear The Who references... Sadly, James Mercer's beefed-up, slightly vocoderised vocals has less impact for me... Wait for the Pinball Wizard cover... http://auralfood.blogspot.com/
No Mumford & Sons then, awfully long to be riding on one album (2009)
