This is really sad news. Thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families. Also, I've been away for a while. Can someone update me on why michael_ is back?
Awesome read, man. I can go on and on about how much of an impact David Comes To Life had on me, but now I'm just really looking forward to what comes next. Abraham is a good dude; you can just tell from being in his presence (at shows, during interviews, reading what he writes). Despite what a lot of people might get from it, to me, Fucked Up is feel-good music, even amidst all the chaos and panic in the lyrics and noise. The whole weed thing/parenting argument, whatever is going on here - everyone's going to have a different opinion. I think this piece should be taken for what it is: a great band, at a great time in their careers, getting ready to show everyone what they've been working so hard on.
"...an an EP..." *on Nice song, though. I still miss old Yuck.
Needs more "Cruel".
Robert Pollard loves tennis.
Stereogum "anthem" count: 4,591.
The extended version of "I Won't Be Long" is more beautiful, and that graced us today. Still, this isn't bad.
This rules. Thank you!
"Anthemic." I think that word, and "Anthem" has been used in every single Stereogum post this year.
Stereogum, where every song is an "anthem" and the points don't matter. Great song, though.
Layeth the Smackdown, Stereogum.
I wish you could've written about Fucked Up. That was a must-see set. The band was tight, and Damian was a maniac in the mud.
"Home" over "You Wanted A Hit". "All I Want" over "I Can Change". Everything else - well done.
Can we stop using the word "anthem"? It is a good song, though.
"Worship You" - such a standout. Very well done!
I love hearing a good "shit" on cable TV. Iggy was great.
"At The Bottom Of Everything," where art thou?
This was a terrific sketch. I hope they continue doing things like this.
"Volume 3 arrives next week..." "Volume 3 is out 5/7 on Merge." What.
Another comment/opinion: Bring back the thumbs up and thumbs down. Please, Gum?
Love the love for "Tap Out". Can't get that melody out of my skull.
Jim Adair wins this one.
Yes, this is great. I'm glad they actually recorded this when they were all in the same room this time. Early standout: "50/50".
What a great set list. Especially "You're The One For Me, Fatty", which may be the funniest Morrissey song, and definitely the best title.
I am very thrilled about this. Paul sounds young. This is a great cause, too. Get well, Slim.
My Asian friend said this sounds Asian. It is very good.
Nineteen is fucking great. Well done, 'Gum.
I can dig it. I hope the rest of the album sounds more like this, and less like "One Way Trigger".
