This is a great write-up. I hope we get a full album from Solange in a similar vein. I really like her sound and candor.
The video was much better than the song. It was missing the quirky lyricism that made me like his last album.
If Fiona Apples album doesn't win, it's just because people can't remember the full title.
I'm going to go with Revolver. The songs are all classics.
I loved it as well. Does everything a mixtape is supposed to, which mainly includes leaving the listeners interests piqued and ready for more.
I thought we were going to get a trilogy of videos that focussed on those telekinetic children. "Steve McQueen" would have been a perfect epic finale! Also: "I just can't REEckognize myself" will always sound silly to me.
All I have to say is that P.O.S. picked the wrong week to drop his decent to good hip/hop album. He isn't going to be seeing ANY buzz because m.A.A.d. city is all everyone's going to be talking about for a couple of weeks.
Sufjan has a tendency to be really delicate and precious with his work. For that reason alone, he almost gave up his music career. He has to let go and have fun with it sometimes; noodle around and do something silly. It's all brilliant anyways, so why not let him go bananas every once and a while?
Heartthrob is two for two. It's sounding like the strongest Tegan and Sara album to date. I'm very excited to hear the rest of it.
This one's so laid back and easy compared to the epicness that Kanye's been making recently. I really like it.
Hadreas gets more and more human with each music video I see. I can really connect to his sensibilities and heart.
Quick! Think of more buzzwords. That sentence does not have enough.
Funny, I always considered Daydream Nation to be their best album.
Choosing between listening to this and watching Breaking Bad is difficult. :/
Would be a good song if the lyrics didn't make me cringe. The production is nice, though.
"Bad Girls" deserves to win, but the award will more realistically go to Gotye.
"That's alright" was one of the tracks on World, You Need a Change of Mind. So, he's not really "coming back from..."
I don't know if I'm jumping on the "Album of the (motherfucking) Year" bandwagon, but I'm definitely digging what I'm hearing on this. Basically it enhanced all the best parts of Nostalgia Ultra.
Let's fucking hope so.
Well this is catchy as shit.
M.I.A. never disappoints. First class pop artist all the way.
I don't fit into that demographic, but I do find Best Coast infinitely charming despite the mopey lyrics about boys.
Read your name as Alan Kunt.
"All Is Full Of Love" by Bjork
"Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service
I could never complain about new Sufjan.
I love the live opening track. That and "Crush" are the standouts for me (other than the singles, obviously.)
They haven't had "albums" yet. So be patient.
This is the first great album of 2012 IMHO.
The Shins haven't let me down yet and this song is terrific, so it seems like less of a gamble than Tyler, The Creator is. If I was putting all my money on Lana Del Rey having the best album of the year that would maybe compare better.
What an awesome thing to wake up to. My favorite track off of The Suburbs gets a delightfully offbeat music video. Hipsters rejoice!
Thift stores are really "dank," aren't they?
