why does it have to be deep? does this imply this is deep? im not even a Sia fan to begin with but as someone who does casting calls for ads, convincing face expressions are fucking hard. Respect to this Ziegler girl.
I honestly dont know where the U2 vibe is coming from. OK Computer, the band were obsessed with sample cutting ala DJ Shadow ( at least part of it), Kid A, TKOL, Amnesiac...all very Krautrock ( as mentioned by SImone). That is as far as from U2 as you can get.
I travelled 5 hours on a plane to see Radiohead for the first time in my life, lined up 6 hours to get into the venue, stood 2 hours before show opens, i have their entire discography and bsides...and i fucking loved TKOL.
sounds fake to me.
They're very funny people, albeit in a English kind of way . But i dont want fun in their music. If you read Peter Hook's JD book, you'd see the lads were also very funny and obnoxious , but their music is anything but. And I prefer to it to stay that way.
Ed O brien actually plays a lot of guitar. lots of it. all those weird noises on radiohead tracks? id say 80% are Eds'. so yeah, he does a lot of thing LOL
(backup vox too)
Yeah I wholly agree on your point No 2 there. Gum were gushing about Viet Cong pre album release and now taking a (not so subtle) different stance. Hypocritical much?
That said, I like the band, so i hope they figure out a way out of this small mess.
WOmen? No...This band is not Women, does not sound like Women and does not have Pat Flegel. so no, they cant call themselves Women anymore.
I like Viet Cong ( the band) but i can see why the name can be a problem.
BUT, i take offense with this one statement in that Impose magazine article:
""Comprised of two ex-members of the band Women (also a pretty problematic name considering, none of the members were actually women)""
what kind of stupid reasoning is this???
uh..a boycott agts Israel is not a boycott agt individuals. but why the fuck are we talking about this here?
Radiohead news >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>overrated Middle east politics
"Early-’90s British shoegazers Swervedriver might not be as revered as contemporaries like My Bloody Valentine or Ride, but they did charged-up bleariness as well as almost anyone"
I dont know, to me Swervedriver never was "shoegaze"
I was gonna rant about the omission of Talk Talk and Bark Psychosis, but then i read his article...so thats ok ( its the writers personal favourites)
Also, worth mentioning the eclectic Japanese post rock movement; they seem to have a distinctive sound
