FYF Fest

L.A.’s punk-flavored indie throwdown FYF Fest — formerly the more-awesomely-named Fuck Yeah Fest — has just announced its lineup for this year. And here’s the first thing worth reporting: That Quicksand reunion from last week? Not a fluke! They’re doing at least one more show, and it’s at this festival. The show goes down 9/1-2 at L.A. State Historic Park, and it also has a few other big punk reunions on deck: Refused, American Nightmare, Conor Oberst’s Desaparecidos, Hot Snakes. And even without them, the lineup is stacked. It also features M83, Beirut, Against Me!, Sleigh Bells, Yeasayer, James Blake, Dinosaur Jr., Wild Flag, Twin Shadow, Liars, Simian Mobile Disco, Paul Banks, Cursive, Converge, Black Mountain, HEALTH, Chromatics, Lightning Bolt, Fucked Up, the Vaselines, King Khan & The Shrines, the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Future Islands, and a ton of other great bands. It’s the sort of festival where you can even read the bottom line of the poster and find something (read: Daughn Gibson) to get excited about. Check here for full details.

  1. I can’t believe after Coachella, I was considering skipping this, but when I got the postcard from FYF this past weekend and saw who was playing, I realized it would completely irrational of me not to fly across the country. Among the heavy helping of hardcore reunions, I’m also glad to see Joyce Manor, Fucked Up and of course, Ceremony on here alongside some excellent noise in the form of LIghtning Bolt and Black Dice.

    • Not that I’m complaining (because by my count, there’s over 30 bands here who I want to see and probably won’t be able to due to conflicts) but everyone had pegged The Promise Ring to be there. I just realized they aren’t on the poster. Color me emo.

  2. Yeah this is festival has gotten better and better, this year is punkasfuck….. dying to go.
