The Virgin Mobile Freefest, the Baltimore-area festival that offers free tickets if you jump through a few hoops, has announced that it’ll once again, on 10/6, bring a truly schizophrenic lineup to the now-famous Merriweather Post Pavilion, the same Columbia, Maryland shed where I had my high-school graduation. This year’s show features Jack White, Skrillex, the Dismemberment Plan, M83, Nas, Santigold, Das Racist, Alabama Shakes, Future Islands, Ben Folds Five, Portugal. The Man, Justin Jones, Allen Stone, Trampled By Turtles, a bunch of dance people, and — in a move that has me seriously considering making the drive — ZZ Top. That is a deeply weird lineup with a whole lot of good on it.
