Big K.R.I.T. - "R.E.M." Video

The song may share a name with a certain legendary Georgia rock band, but “R.E.M.,” the new track from the heavy-hearted Mississippi rapper and producer Big K.R.I.T., borrows a sample from a very different, albeit equally unlikely, source: James Blake’s “The Wilhelm Scream.” Blake’s disconnected falsetto trills haunt K.R.I.T.’s open-hearted struggle-rap. And the song’s new video, from director KRSP, follows K.R.I.T. as he wanders through a dour black-and-white cityscape and encounters a doppelganger of himself. Watch it below.

The track comes from K.R.I.T.’s forthcoming mixtape King Remembered In Time, which also boasts the single “Shine On,” featuring Bun B.

  1. How K.R.I.T. isn’t as big as Kendrick right now astounds me…this song is really dope

    • Big K.R.I.T. is definitely a decent rapper and I’m aware it’s not that productive to try to make a tit for tat argument comparing one rapper to another, but in my book when a rapper is able to deliver a solid album it’s puts them on another level and aside from the hype Kendrick’s album is one of the strongest rap albums to come out in years so in my opinion he deserves to be bigger and of course it makes sense that he’s bigger considering K.R.I.T.’s lack of a quality radio hit and Kendrick’s path to success going through Dr. Dre.

  2. this fucking rules

  3. The james blake sample is SO GOOD. FUCK. YES.
