The Flaming Lips - The Terror

The Flaming Lips’ dark and paranoid new album The Terror is coming shortly, and we’ve been posting its songs for what feels like forever: “Look… The Sun Is Rising,” the uncharacteristically bright first single/bonus track “Sun Blows Up Today,” the endless drone-freak “You Lust.” And now the entire album is streaming online; listen to it below.

The Terror is out 4/16 on Warner Bros.

  1. I find it funny how nobody wants to talk about this album. As a fan of ALL lips albums, I gota say I don’t like this one very much. I think maybe a lot of people don’t want to admit that.

    • There are no songs that leap out at the listener, but sometimes that just means that it takes a bunch of listens.

I am also leaving open the possibility that Wayne spends so much time tweeting that it’s affected his creative process.

  2. I don’t know… When Soft Bulletin came out I was crushed with disappointment. Where were the pop-hooks? The broken speaker helicopter guitar assaults? The pummeling drums? Now it is at the top of my list. Same could be said of Pinkerton, Kid A/Amnesiac…

Let this one get its roots in you. I bet it is going to be a gem in all of our collections in retrospect. It’s just a bit much to take in one listen (especially if you happen to be looking out your window into a very bleak snow/ice-rain storm today).
