Lemuria - The Distance Is So Big

The Buffalo trio Lemuria combine skronky post-hardcore dynamics with sweet and open-hearted melodies. Bands who made that sort of warm and honest racket used to be called “emo,” but then emo became a dirty word, and in any case it never quite fit with, say, Rainer Maria, maybe Lemuria’s clearest antecedent. So let’s just call Lemuria an exceptionally good indie rock band and note that The Distance Is So Big, their new album, is coming soon. They recorded it with the great producer J. Robbins, and the first track they’ve shared is the gorgeous “Brilliant Dancer,” which you can hear below.

The Distance Is So Big is out 6/18 on Bridge Nine.

  1. Emo’s a dirty word? Man, you need to hit up anything The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Dads, Joyce Manor, Joie De Vivre, anything that Topshelf Records has put out, so many excellent bands that you could lump together as emo!

  2. i saw them open for against me and screaming females, pre-laura jane grace. not only are they talented, but a nice bunch of people too.
