Cookie Monster

The inescapable Icona Pop song “I Love It” is a force of mindless, destructive, all-consuming pleasure, a true agent of chaos, and so is the Cookie Monster, the furry blue walking id of Sesame Street. So it’s only natural that, in a preview video for Sesame Street’s 44th (!) season, Cookie has sung his own version of the Swedish duo’s hit. What’s ironic is that the Cookie Monster version of the song, “Me Want It (But Me Wait),” is actually about restraint and self-control, two concepts that don’t exactly get a lot of play in the original song. 1. I guess I haven’t watched Sesame Street in a long time, but when did Cookie Monster start sounding like an Eastern European thug?

  2. I’ve seen plenty of Sesame Street in my day, but I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen Cookie Monster’s legs. I’m not sure how this makes me feel.
