Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens Of The Stone Age and Arctic Monkeys have a mutual-admiration society that stretches back to the time the Monkeys recruited Josh Homme to produce much of their 2009 album Humbug. It’s still going today; Homme appears on the Monkeys’ new album AM, just as Monkeys frontman Alex Turner guested on the new QOTSA album …Like Clockwork. And for a recent BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session, QOTSA played a swaggering acoustic rendition of the new Monkeys single “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” This time, Homme didn’t have to read the lyrics. Check it out below.

…Like Clockwork is out now on Matador, and AM is out 9/10 on Domino.

  1. Bad songcraft, as exhibited by the awkward way the phrasing plays out here.

  2. Just as bad as their “Blurred Lines” cover. Hopefully Vampy Weeks saves the day again by releasing a great fun cover of this next week.
