Le1f on Letterman

Le1f, the New York rapper whose EP Hey is our reigning Album Of The Week, will be down in Austin tonight, just like almost everyone else making music this minute. But last night, he was the musical guest on the Late Show With David Letterman, where he performed “Wut,” the two-year-old viral hit that reappears on Hey, and generally ripped shit. Performing with a backing band that included Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, Le1f rapped hard, kept pace with his synchronized backup dancers, and threw confrontational charisma all over that stage. If he can get some of that same buzz that Future Islands got a couple of weeks ago on the show, I will be happy; he deserves it. (Also, whats going on at Letterman right now? New music booker?) If nothing else, watch it for the quick interaction between Le1f and Letterman; it’s below.

Hey is out now on Terrible/XL. Praying that Letterman comes out for his monologue tonight in those shoes.

  1. I don’t know if this is because–now that Old Man Leno is gone– he’s the elder late night talk show host but he’s still the coolest of them all to me. #teamletterman
