Los Angeles-based Emma Ruth Rundle has her hands in a lot of different projects, most notably Marriages, the Nocturnes, and Red Sparowes, all of which deal in moody and atmospheric post-rock. “Arms I Know So Well” is her first solo effort — besides some ambient noise pieces she has up on Bandcamp — and it traverses the same ground, setting her vocals underneath a heavy mix of scratchy textures and reverb. The most immediate comparison that comes to mind is a softer, folkier version of EMA, who also got her start in the noise scene before branching out. The track comes from her upcoming debut Some Heavy Ocean. Listen below.
Some Heavy Ocean is out 5/20 via Sargent House.
