Lily Allen’s younger brother plays Theon Greyjoy, the sniveling and scheming and now deeply traumatized onetime heir to the Iron Islands, on Game Of Thrones. On the show, there was a scene two seasons ago where Greyjoy relentlessly hit on his younger sister, the warrior princess Yara, before realizing who she was. (There also appeared to be some light fingerbanging.) In the grand scheme of Game Of Thrones incest, that’s all pretty light, but that scene could’ve taken a much more disturbing turn. During a recent AMA, Lily says that they initially offered the role of Yara to her, and she had to turn it down because yergh. Here’s what she says:
I’ve been asked to do a Game of Thrones cameo, they asked me if I’d be interested in playing Theon’s sister, and I felt uncomfortable because I would have had to go on a horse and he would have touched me up and shit. Once they told me what was entailed, I said no thanks. I would be open to doing a musical cameo like Sigur Ros, though.
That role would’ve actually been way more than a cameo; Yara is one of many important minor characters on the show. If she’d taken the role, we would’ve seen her swordfight in a dungeon this past Sunday, which would’ve been something.
