The Orlando band You Blew It! are at the forefront of what’s been called the emo revival, and they really do sound like one of the bands that was tearing up the post-hardcore touring circuit around the turn of the millennium. Earlier this year, You Blew It! released their immediately likable breakout album Keep Doing What You’re Doing. And now they’ve announced that they’ll follow that album up with an EP tribute to a band who those circa-2000 groups adored: Weezer. On the EP, which has the perhaps-inevitable title You Blue It, they’ll cover four of the songs from Weezer’s immortal self-titled Blue Album debut, as well as one B-side from that same era. We’ve got the tracklist below.
01 “My Name Is Jonas”
02 “Surf Wax America”
03 “In The Garage”
04 “Only In Dreams”
In a statement, You Blew It! frontman Tanner Jones says, “The Blue Album means a lot to us. Aside from them being one of the few bands we can unanimously agree on, they’re one of the most defining bands of our generation. I’m not sure that we would be a band without Weezer, so this was just the best way we could come up with to pay tribute to them. Plus holy shit it was fun. Oh and ‘You Blue It’ was too good of a pun to pass up so whatever.” You Blue It is out 7/15 digitally and 8/12 on vinyl, via Topshelf.
