FKA twigs - LP1

Last year, the fascinating and absorbing London-based singer FKA twigs made a name for herself with two EPs, helpfully titled EP1 and EP2, and a few brain-boggling music videos. This summer, she’ll release her debut album, which you’ve probably already guessed will be called LP1. On those EPs and in those videos, twigs has already revealed herself to be the owner of a powerful design sensibility, and that LP1 cover by Jesse Kanda above is the sort of thing that demands a certain level of attention. I can’t wait for this album. Check out the tracklist below.

01 “Preface”
02 “Lights On”
03 “Two Weeks”
04 “Hours”
05 “Pendulum”
06 “Video Girl”
07 “Numbers”
08 “Closer”
09 “Give Up”
10 “Kicks”
(via Pitchfork)

LP1 is out 8/12 on Young Turks.

  1. Holy fuck I have been waiting for this for what must be a year now, and if the cover is anything to go by IT WILL BE FANTASTIC

  2. Of course now I have to wonder if ‘Two Weeks’ will be a Grizzly Bear cover…

Nice to see it’s a totally new tracklist as well; whilst I won’t say I’m not hotly anticipating her peer Banks’s new record I was a little disappointed at the small number of new songs present.

    • It really does wreck a lot of debut LPs when they’re made up mostly of previously released material.

Here’s my question about the cover. Is that actually her in makeup or is it some sort of mannequin head? At first glance I thought it was the later, but now am moving the other direction. If it is her…wow.

      • Those ears are plastic, they just look a little wrong… But the eyes and lips are certainly human. it’s a good kind of freaky.

  3. This has album of the decade potential. I’m ready.
