Ryn Weaver

Ryn Weaver is a pop singer based in New York and Los Angeles, and she was, up until this afternoon, basically a total unknown. But her new single “OctaHate” is an extremely clean and catchy piece of work. Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos co-produced the track alongside big-pop hitmakers Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat, and Charli XCX, and it absolutely gleams. Give it a listen below.

We don’t know if this song is coming out, or if Weaver is even on a label, but the machinery behind her seems to be strong.

  1. Pretty sure it’d be impossible not have a label pulling the strings when yr first single is associated with Michael Angelakos, Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat.

    • hehe that would be nice to have some major label money. Actually, i met benny at a party a year back and showed him my sound cloud… he had already been working with cashmere cat a bit… and he showed michael some of my music that I had produced and written on my own… and we all kinda just started to make some music. I’m signed to friends keep secrets… and indie. this is actually more of a passion project for them but it’s my vision. I know i’m not supposed to respond to internet trolls but i was bored. xx

      • Made an account just to comment, I really like this! I saw it shared on Facebook. Excited to see what you come up with in the future, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for you. Good luck and keep it up

      • made a new account too, to just say get it girl!! this song will no doubt be a summer top 40 but you’re clearly so talented you won’t be a one hit wonder. these guys must be just as pumped they met you!

    • FWIW, she previously went by the name Aryn Wüthrich.

She sings on this Cashmere Cat song:

And recently covered Joanna Newsom’s “Peach, Plum, Pear”:

But mostly she is a struggling actress.

Here she is with Jessie Ware and Benny Blanco in NYC a few weeks ago:

A still from the forthcoming Kickstarter-funded film At The Maple Grove:

She was also on an episode of CSI with Black Sabbath.

  2. How much money do your parents have to make for you to be able to be based in LA AND New York?

  3. A little too slick for my tastes

  4. Hidden due to low comment rating. Click here to see

  5. Apparently Charli XCX worked on it too

  6. it’s great.

  7. Too late to amend the Song of Summer voting list? It could use at least one good pop song…

  8. its ok. good luck with the machinery.

  9. I really dig this track.

That said, for some reason this unfortunate thing popped into my head as soon as I heard it the first time:
