Lil Wayne - "Grindin"

Lil Wayne and Drake teamed up a few months ago for Wayne’s single “Believe Me,” and they’ll head out on a co-headlining tour later tonight, so maybe it’s not a surprise to hear them on a song together again. “Grindin’” is another single from Wayne’s forthcoming Tha Carter V, allegedly his final album, and it features Wayne in full-on slurry Auto-Tuned sing-rapping form. On his verse, Drake picks up the same melody and stays in singsong form before lurching into the Migos flow. This is minor Wayne/Drake, but it still sounds pretty good. Boi-1da and Vinylz produced the beat, which layers florid piano over angry bass-throbs. Listen below.

  1. This is very… average.

  2. This is alright but nothing he’s released has come close to TCII or TCIII. He’s at least trying, but he doesn’t have the same kind of spark he captured on “Tha Mobb” or “Mr. Carter”, or anything else from that period.

    • I hope Carter V won’t be as embarrassing as Carter IV, some of the singles have been pretty good, but you’re right that Wayne’s moment has long since passed.

  3. wayne tryna do a thugger impression

  4. Just because he put autotune over it doesn’t make it less obvious he’s bitin that migos style that everyone else is doing these days.

  5. I can’t stop bumpin this and Judge Da Boss’ ‘Hell Yeah’ in the car.Check it out if you haven’t already
