Yumi Zouma’s songs operate like capital-P pop numbers that somehow got covered with a slick, oily film that makes everything sound like there’s some aqueous boundary between the speaker and your ear. “Song For Zoe & Gwen” is no different — it’s a blurry, glimmering track filled with mumbling laments and breathy intimations. The song, which will appear on the New Zealand group’s upcoming EP II, feels more insular than the rest of their output, but it keeps the same unhurried forward momentum and daydreamy, introspective state.
