Yaeji is the project of New York-based producer Kathy Lee, who has been putting out beguiling and muted tracks under the name over the past year. “New York 93″ is her debut for underground electronic denizens GODMODE, and it’s part of their recently started Faculty series. It’s a hushed, glossed-over trace made only more enticing by the soft-focus video that comes along, which feels like dozens of different memories displaced from time. It’s smooth and sultry, oddly comforting but a bit alienating, in a way that the city it’s named after can so often be. Listen below.
