Year Of Glad – “Keeping A Peace” (Stereogum Premiere)

Last year, a bunch of Philadelphia punk veterans — including Nona’s Mimi Gallagher, Thin Lips’ Chris Diehm, and Mike Bell of Mike Bell & the Movies — got together to form Year Of Glad and put out their self-titled debut EP. They’re back again this summer with a new collection of songs — the I Don’t Know Where I Am Either EP — and “Keeping A Peace” is its lead single. Gallagher takes lead here, singing about ownership and autonomy over a country-inflected twang with enough of a punk edge to keep it grounded.

Proceeds from the sale of “Keeping A Peace” will go towards The Center Orlando. “To our friends in Orlando who are suffering, our hearts are with yours,” the band says. “You have supported the Philadelphia music scene for the better part of a decade through shows/floors/friendship; we are nothing without community and when others hurt, it affects us all. Thanks for listening to our music and please help if you can.” You can buy it here, and listen below.
