Bon Iver, The National, & Dozens Of Other Artists Announce Live Collaboration In Berlin

Justin Vernon, Aaron and Bryce Dessner, and a number of others have organized a not-for-profit collaborative art project and performance piece that will take place in Berlin on 10/1-2. The event will feature contributions from 80 artists including the aforementioned members of the National and Bon Iver (plus S. Carey and Matt McCaughan), Nils Frahm, Damien Rice, Lisa Hannigan, Alexander Ridha (aka Boys Noize), Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner, and many more. The official website for the event (which does not have a name yet) describes it as being “about new material, collaborations, unique arrangements, and dissolving borders.” All involved will spend a week workshopping and rehearsing at Funkhaus, which will be followed by a two-day performance. The entire process appears to be freeform, which means that artists will be able to work with whomever they wish and the lineups for each setpiece will not be announced ahead of time. Tickets and more information are available here.
