Solange Knowles made one of the year’s best albums with A Seat At The Table, but she hasn’t done any touring or even played any full live shows behind it as of yet. Instead, the only times we’ve gotten to see her perform those songs have been her infrequent late-night TV appearances, and she makes an absolute event out of each of those. Solange’s Saturday Night Live performance was really something, and so was the performance she gave last night as musical guest on The Tonight Show. Connected to her backing singers through some intricately matching dresses, Solange sang a medley of the album tracks “Rise” and “Weary.” The stage was all draped in red, and all the members of her band had on matching outfits. There was a tiny bit of choreography that was all the more powerful for its minimalism. It’s just one hell of a performance, and you can watch it below.
