New Animal Collective Video – “Summertime Clothes”

Scott Lapatine | June 12, 2009 - 12:02 pm

Today’s Bonnaroo line-up’s got Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Grizzly Bear, and TV On The Radio all back to back. So basically Brooklynroo. With its nursery rhyme melody and visceral cruel summer imagery, Animal Collective’s “Summertimes Clothes” is the most accessible track on an album praised for being not entirely inaccessible. The colorful, trippy video, directed by longtime collaborator Danny Perez, features pulsing lights, fire and ice, and Brooklyn’s bedsheet-clad FLEX dance crew (as seen on TV) writhing inside plastic bubbles. It’s sort of freaking me out! I probably shouldn’t have eaten so many peanut butter cups! Anyway, my unicorn is melting so enjoy the freak show…

The “Summertime Clothes” single (12″ and digital) is out 7/7 and features three remixes, including this killer boogie funk take from LA’s Dâm-Funk.
