Guided By Voices on Letterman

Last night, reformed indie heroes Guided By Voices appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman, busting through with “The Unsinkable Fats Domino,” the first single from their new Album Of The Week Let’s Go Eat The Factory. And there’s a lot to like about the performance: The second-nature showmanship, the classic-rock hooks, the fact that Letterman actually appears to be younger than certain GBV members. The most notable moment, however, comes about 35 seconds into the video below, when bassist Greg Demos straight-up falls on his ass with an atonal clang, then gets back up, laughs about it, and keeps playing. Letterman, needless to say, has plenty of fun with this.

Let’s Go Eat The Factory is out now on GBV Inc.

  1. That made me uncomfortable.

  2. My wife just asked if this was Patrick Duffy’s band.

  3. Looks like Fats Domino is pretty sinkable, after all.

  4. I liked the part where the bass player fell down.

Seriously, they should make that a part of their stage act. They should just all fall down at the end of every song.

  5. it still rocked

  6. the bassist looks like an extra from Almost Famous halfway through dressing up as a pirate

  7. Perhaps it’s good thing Rob didn’t let off a high kick.

Whatever, GBV can do what they want
