Erudite Britpop greats Pulp reunited last year, but they never got around to playing any shows in the Western hemisphere, which was a total drag for the many Anglophiles on these shores. The band is just now preparing to correct that oversight. We’ve already learned that they’ll come over for both Coachella weekends in April. And now they’ve announced a pair of other American shows. They’ll play New York’s Radio City Music Hall on 4/13 and San Francisco’s Warfield on 4/17.
Pulp last toured America in 1998, when they released their amazing This Is Hardcore album. I saw them at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in D.C. that year. For some godforsaken, reason they only played three songs at that show, none of which was “Common People.” And this was after I had to sit through like 45 minutes of Buffalo Daughter. God willing, these shows will last a little longer.
