Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss, who hails from Manasquan, NJ, used to perform in a teen pop group called RubyBlue, so I feel like getting “Best Vocalist” at her high school was kind of a gimme (though I do wonder what thrash pop group Chris Pinnella is in now). Hipster Runoff unleashed some high school photos of Alexis — who used to go by Sydney, for a spell — so head there for the rest. I’m guessing, of all photos to rapidly circulate on the internet, Alexis would rather have it be these, but honestly, it could be worse. She could be Drake.

I guess it’s kind of interesting in that “before they were famous” sort of way, but if HR expects me to look at these pictures and say, “Oh my gosh, she had one of those emoish pixie girl haircuts and probably listened to Dido. What a fake!” based on how she looked close to a decade ago, c’mon. In my post-high school experience, all the stereotypical attractive chicks and dudes lost their looks by the end of college while the artsy, different-looking kids who sculpted their bangs into devil horns with gel (guilty!) held onto their youth and have style even though they’re pushing 30.
Does anyone not have embarrassing high school pictures? Who cares? Either way, she’s cute.
