So I have to head to Lake Placid today (tough life!) but it's Videogum's last day and I wanted to post something before I went. Thank you to everyone who has made this site worth reading: Kelly, Gabe, Lindsay, all of us monsters, celebrities doing stupid things; thanks to the community we have developed here, and to the hope that this site can continue in some form in the future. It might sound silly or cliched but I felt there was enough intelligence, warmth, and happiness here to keep me going on a bad day, and to make me love a good day even more. Excelsior, everyone. And please, join us on Vgum.wordpress.com (you too, Kelly!), that Lady Rainicorn has so thoughtfully set up for us.
We're saved! Sort of. Maybe we can work to make it as awesome as Vgum as been, little by little?
Top Gun 2: 2 Baby 2 Furious
'Twas a different, wilder era. Only the strong, and crafty, monsters survived.
Post snow-day in Albany, NY, everything looks prettier than usual (or ever). I got new glasses today! I will, however, reiterate that I am already beginning to miss the presence of this website before it has disappeared. After 5 years of commenting, reading, and enjoying, having it be one of the websites I check regularly each morning... to have it evaporate is sad. It's wrong. I suppose we can't do much except enjoy the times we had and hope the site gets revived in the future. I hope we can all collectively say "So long, and thanks for all the fish" around 5PM on Friday. I'll love and miss you all.
Awesome! Thank you Ladyrainicorn!
Yes, but was it a ghost pirate or a pirate ghost?
I'd say watch Sir Anthony Hopkins in the spectacular "Remains Of The Day" and you'll never have to watch Downtown Abbey.
That show was so terrible. Gabe's recaps were probably the only reason to watch.
Imagine a site with Lindsay and Kelly writing? Amazing!
Fudgecicles for everyone!
Social Services would know what to do to save Videogum! http://darcil.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/7270774142_3c3219f5b9_b.jpg
I know I'm going to sob if Kelly posts some classic Gabe fanfiction. Sigh.
It was rainin' hard in Brooklyn I needed one more post to make my night A lady on the 'net waved to flag me down She IMed me that night Something about her was familiar I could swear I'd read her snark before but she said, "I'm sure you're mistaken," and she didn't post anything more It took awhile but she looked at her screen and she glanced at the icon for my name a smile seemed to come to her slowly It was a sad smile just the same. And she said, "How are you Gabey?" "I said how are you Kelly?" Through the too many posts and the too many jokes I still remember you. (Apologies to the late Harry Chapin. Is anyone else on this blog old enough to even know who Harry Chapin is?)
Kickstarter project to buy the domain rights? Who else is in?
Will do. Official Videogum twitter?
As someone who has been posting since 2009, I wonder if people remember the Videogum anniversary bday parties in NYC during the early years? Is anyone else up for a last party at a bar in NYC where Kelly, Lindsay, Gabe, Scott etc. are invited to help us remember the good times? A wake for Videogum, if you will?
An ex introduced me to WMOAT when I was doing some adjuncting in 2009; that relationship ended quickly but I always appreciated the sharp witted commentary from Gabe & Lindsay/Kelly. I've participated in the commenting since then, sometimes more or less involved, but I will miss this terribly.
Yea, the community here has kept me going in some pretty bleak periods. I've been hibernating for awhile but would love to see it continue in some form, even if it were a fan-run site.
