Last night, the teenage New Zealand pop phenom Lorde was the musical guest on Late Night With David Letterman. There, she sang “Team,” her follow-up to the world-conquering “Royals,” and gave an awesomely disgusted reaction when Letterman went in to kiss her hand. And she also became the latest act to play a full set for the show’s Live On Letterman webcast series. Lorde doesn’t have that much music, so her performance was only about a half hour, but it was still a strong indicator of the sort of awkward teenage intensity she brings, a decidedly-not-studied pose that makes her an interesting addition to the pop landscape. Watch the televised performance and the webcast below.
Lorde’s album Pure Heroine is out now on Universal.
