William Tyler – “Whole New Dude”

Rootsy indie-rock journeyman guitarist William Tyler released his instrumental wonder Impossible Truth last year, and he’s back next month with a new 12-inch. Lost Colony, Tyler’s first release featuring his touring band, features three tracks: the new single “Whole New Dude,” a full-band reworking of Impossible Truth’s “We Can’t Go Home Again,” and a cover of “Karussell” by Michael Rother of Neu! Today we get to hear “Whole New Dude,” a vivacious 13-minute Southern rock fairy dance inspired by Tyler’s conversations with Hiss Golden Messenger’s Mike Taylor regarding Julian Jaynes’ The Origin Of Consciousness In The Breakdown Of The Bicameral Mind. It’ll brighten your day immensely, so listen.

Lost Colony is out 4/29 via Merge.
