Although each member of Yeah Yeah Yeahs has been busy with various side gigs lately, as a functional unit they’ve been pretty quiet since Mosquito came out almost two years ago. In a new interview with NME, Karen O said that radio silence will likely continue for a while because the band is “on a bit of a hiatus” and has no plans to record anytime soon. O clarified that Yeah Yeah Yeahs have not broken up, they’re just not in any hurry to get together again: “We have to wait to get the urge, get that itch. The time needs to be right and we’re OK waiting for that, I think.” That’s some unfortunate news for those of us who weren’t satiated by O’s solo debut Crush Songs, but hey, they always take three or four years between albums.
