Migos Ridiculed For $1K High School Donation

Donating money to a high school is a noble gesture, but it’s hard not to laugh at the way Migos went about it. The Atlanta rap trio and their label Quality Control Music presented $1,000 to Booker T. Washington High School on one of those giant novelty checks, commemorating the photo op on Instagram yesterday: “GIVING BACK TO WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL IN ATLANTA.”

The irony of a group that pulls in $40,000 per show making a big ordeal out of a thousand-dollar donation was not lost on the general public. The Instagram post lit up with negative comments, including these entertaining samples:

  • “fse dats enogh for 2 dell computers and a ipad… #ycn young cheap niggas , niggas can spend 10000 in versace but only a band on da school smh”
  • “LMAO $333.33 each your shoes prob cost more than that!!!”
  • “What’d they all throw $100 ? Yay freeze pops for the whole school !”

Additionally, this morning Charlamagne Tha God from syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club named Migos the “Donkey Of The Day” for the stunt, inspiring this exchange of tweets:

Migos also shared a final word on the subject:

Can’t dispute that, but next time maybe don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
