A couple of generations of Chicago rap come together on the new track “Speak To Em.” Lil Bibby is a leading light of Chicago’s booming, adrenal drill scene, but he’s got more traditional technical skills than many of his peers. And on “Speak To Em,” he raps alongside Chicago elder stateman Common, the two of them getting mellow and introspective over a beat from Seattle producer Jake One. Bibby is just 21, but thanks to his husky and wizened voice, he actually sounds older than Common, even though Common is literally more than twice his age. The track will appear on Bibby’s forthcoming FC3 mixtape, and you can hear it below, via The FADER.
